I am going to make a promise to myself to go the Eder’s after each of my shows. The ones I can reach before 9:00, when they close. I went out the other night to get a peanut butter cone, they were out of peanut butter ice cream. So I said how about black cherry, they were out of that also. My third pick was strawberry. I was really not disappointed. There were big pieces of strawberries in the ice cream. Actually, I was tempted to go back in for more. Anyone interested in some of the best ice cream IN THE WORLD, try Eder’s there at Faragut just about 2 1/2 miles north of Montoursville on route 87. Try the strawberry, or the black cherry or the peanut butter, I guarantee you will not be sorry!!!! Their banana splits looked pretty good too!!!
Wow!!!! Let me tell you the Christian Church of Cogan Station is one FINE church. With a membership of approximately 500, there are at least 180 volunteers just in Fam Jam, a church program where the children bring their parents to learn about Jesus Christ and His Father, God. One dad got up to tell how his 5 year old son could tell the difference between “The Bible Series ” and the Bible itself. He told how his son even showed his dad the differences in his Bible. Another Wow!!!
Some of the volunteers are teaching the children the books of the Bible. I learned them in my church when I was a child. I didn’t realize that not everyone knew them until this last year.
Kate & Friends program was “Scooter’s Broken Window”. Scooter was in rare form and he does get wound up at times. I pulled out my special “Guide to Life” and the children knew what it was before I could even ask a question. They knew it was The Bible. the children are very well taught, eager to learn and very intuitive. If I didn’t have a home church I would definately goto the Christian Church of Cogan Station no matter what the distance!!! God is alive in that church and showing all his miracles in the wonderful blessings he is bestowing on that church.
I had one of the best days of life today. I spent my day with the first man in my life, my daddy. I ment him at his church this morning. At home for lunch both of us had a hot dog, yum. My favorite food among many!!! Then down to Lewisburg to visit my brother. He just had both knees replaced. Ouch!!! I am not one for pain. I hurn just thinking about him hurting. Then home again for some of the best ice cream this side of the Mississippi, Eder’s, and off to church to see the movie “Grace Card.” What a wonderful movie. I think the only dry eye was Daddy’s, he didn’t have his hearing aide in. After the movie, you guessed it, ice cream and cookies. Like I said the most wonderful day ever. Any day spent with the ones you love is a blessing and I sure have mine!!!
My program today was telling the ladies how I got started with ventriloqusim. That was short and sweet. I was 10 years old when I got my first ventriloquist doll. (I hate calling them puppets. When I think of puppets I think hand puppets.) My dolls are not called “dummies” that is derogatory, I call them my “non-breathing friends.” Anyway, I told how I got out of work at home because my mama would ask where I was and one of my sisters would tell her I was in front of a mirror. I was only in front of the mirror to practice and not to look at myself. My first doll was a Jerry Mahoney doll with the little string in the back. Now I have a room for all my non-breathng friends totalling over 40. But my favorite dolls are those on my webpage made by Axtell Expressions. By the way, I still practice all the time.
God usually calls me in the middle of the night to go down to the computer. He is always helping me with my programs I am always tweeking and He is right there beside me.
My time with the ladies group was wonderful. I love making new friends and reminiscing with old ones. I love to see their expressions as I bring my “non breathing friends” out of their suitcase.
